Patient Type Veterans with major depression or bipolar disorder who are referred for specialty team-based mental health care. Veterans in this clinic often have psychiatric (e.g., PTSD, anxiety disorders) and medical (e.g., chronic pain) comorbidities,.
Our clinic services a diverse group of Veterans across age, gender, and ethnicities.
Experience Type

Group and individual therapy employing ACT, DBT, and CBT opportunities are available, along with additional training if interested in CBT for insomnia, brief family psychoeducation, and/or suicide prevention intervention with related opportunities for additional didactics and supervision. Practicum students also compete one weekly supervised diagnostic assessments.

Supervision: In addition to weekly supervision by our faculty, trainees learn by co-leading groups alongside interns and post-doctoral fellows

Consultation: Interdisciplinary peer teaching through an interactive weekly team meeting.

Limiting Factors Team meetings and didactics are Monday 1:00-2:30 and are mandatory. Other hours are flexible, and we will work with students to develop an individualized plan to enable desired experiences
Other Issues Students have one primary supervisor and will interact regularly with the other supervisor, interns, & psychiatry residents, social workers, nursing, and postdocs through group supervision, team meetings, and co-therapy. Currently and for the foreseeable future all experiences are through telehealth.
