Students are strongly encouraged to attend both graduation ceremonies.
The SDSU (College of Science “hooding” ceremony) usually occurs on the third weekend in May. For more information about SDSU’s Commencement, visit the following website: http://newscenter.sdsu.edu/commencement/. Please Note: Doctoral students AND hooding professors will be required to attend a rehearsal the Wednesday before graduation. More details can be found at the website above.
- Email the SDSU Program Coordinator the name of your hooding professor no later than by April 15 if attending
Tickets: To order tickets remotely, you will need to complete the Commencement Ticket Request Form. This form can be found on the commencement website listed above under students/tickets.
Regalia: You can order your PhD regalia (including your cap and gown) after April 1st online at www.shopaztecs.com.
UC San Diego Commencement
The UC San Diego Graduate and professional school graduation ceremony is typically held in mid-June. For more information about UC San Diego’s Commencement, visit the following website: https://students.ucsd.edu/academics/commencement/index.html
- Online registration is required to attend
NOTE: Your name will be printed in the SDSU commencement booklet the year you graduate. However, your name will NOT be printed in UC San Diego’s commencement booklet until the following year, due to the fact that your degree will not be conferred until after the completion of your internship.
